First time in a while that I actually got out a knife and cutting board and cooked a proper meal.
Proof that things are calmer at work. I’m even posting on the blog.
Made nikujaga (meat and potato stew) — I’d done it before, but gave it another go.
New onion and new potato, the spring duo.
Took a photo while I was at it.
With simmered dishes, you start with enough water to nearly cover everything, then let it reduce. I didn’t know that at first and ended up with a barely seasoned result the first time. This time I simmered it properly until almost all the water was gone — flavoring came out right.
