At the professional baseball game between the Giants and Hiroshima held at Tokyo Dome on the 3rd, Shigeo Nagashima (69), the Giants’ Lifetime Honorary Manager who visited to watch the game, smiled, showcasing his recovery, and sent a message to the fans saying, “I want to come back to the Dome again and cheer alongside all the fans.”

According to the team, during the game, Mr. Nagashima discussed baseball with owner Takio Takihana, team chairman Tsuneo Watanabe, and Professor Shinichiro Uchiyama of Tokyo Women’s Medical University, who was in charge of his treatment. In the first inning, when Tomohiro Nioka, the Giants’ infielder, made a diving catch on a foul fly, and Yoshinobu Takahashi, the outfielder, made a diving catch on a right-field fly, Mr. Nagashima praised them, saying, “That was a very good play.”
Mr. Nagashima has been diligently rehabilitating to restore function to his right hand and right leg, which still have after-effects from a cerebral infarction. After the game, Professor Uchiyama said, “He worked hard on his rehabilitation, and I think the fans were pleased. There was nothing to worry about. From now on, maintenance rehabilitation will be necessary.”
