The blog went quiet for a while…
I was on a long-term business trip to Nagoya for about three months, which kept me busy. At this point I’m not sure whether I’m a resident of Aichi Prefecture or Tokyo.
Back in Tokyo after a long time (despite technically being a Tokyo resident), I wandered around with some Tokyo-based friends.
“Katsushika Shibamata”
I’ve never seen a single episode of “Otoko wa Tsurai yo,” so Tora-san means nothing to me — but an enthusiastic friend dragged me along to Taishakuten and the Tora-san Museum.
Afterward, we headed to Katsushika Station to buy shoes — and spotted the Ryotsu statue!
I’ve been a Kochikame reader for years, and had always been curious about this statue — finally got to see it in person.
It’s over 150 volumes by now, isn’t it? Personally I prefer the older chapters — the G.I. Joe parody, Licca-chan doll, computer geek episodes and other niche topics. The recent Kyoto-heavy storylines aren’t really my thing.
After being away so long, just walking around wore me out quickly.
Need to get out more and build some stamina.
It looks like I’ll be based in Tokyo for a while (odd thing to say when I’m supposedly transferred here), so I want to explore it more.
