A Baton Has Arrived!

« Previous Next »

I’ve been using Mixi lately, and a “baton” chain post came my way — so here goes.
This one came from Natalie-san.

○ Your Mixi name?
Kei — same name I use everywhere online.

○ Gender?
Male. Just to be clear.

○ Any complaints about your real name?
The name was already there when I became aware of myself (obviously), so “like it or not” — this is just my name.

○ Something you feel is a “waste of money”?
Computers, which I seem to have more of than necessary. Back in the day getting one was an achievement; now they come from the lab or at auction…

○ When do you not want to go outside?
When I have no money. Right before payday is rough.

○ First thing you do when you get home late and tired?
Sit down. That’s it.

○ Qualifications you hold?
Driver’s license
Junior System Administrator (IT certification)
Basic IT Engineer (national certification)

English is a weak spot, so no English qualifications (only an Eiken Level 4 from middle school).

○ Your everyday wallet?
One my older sister bought for me. Not sure what brand. Quite old.

○ Favorite emoticon?
f^_^; — I use this a lot in mobile messages.

○ “Actually, I’m ___.”
Actually… I’m overweight.

○ What would you shout into the ocean?
UOOOOO RYAAAA (just pure yelling)

○ Front or back of the school trip bus?
Somewhere in the middle.
Front means too close to the teacher; sitting in the back and looking forward makes me queasy; a window seat in the middle is ideal.

○ Share one piece of useless trivia.
If you point a phone camera at a TV remote control and press the buttons, you can see the infrared light on the camera screen.

○ Who in your circle is “that weird person”?
A friend who says “I can’t hang out one-on-one, I have a boyfriend” but then randomly invites me out of nowhere.

○ Absolute requirements in a partner?
Basic manners and common sense.
Littering — cigarette butts, general trash. Parking illegally in obviously wrong places. These are major turnoffs.

○ Have you ever asked for a “smile” at McDonald’s?
No.
But back when I worked part-time at Lotteria, a customer once asked me for a “smile” — at Lotteria. Clearly a middle schooler on a dare.

○ “A friend of a friend apparently…” — annoying or fine?
Don’t hear it that much, but probably just “hmm, is that so?” and move on.

○ What does “punk” make you think of?
A flat tire.

○ Something in your room you don’t need but can’t throw away?
An electone keyboard from over 20 years ago.
I want to get rid of it, but it’s too big and heavy to motivate myself to deal with. Still in the way though.

○ Any ongoing health issues?
Borderline hay fever.
Nearsighted (can’t see anything without glasses or contacts).

○ Reveal a sealed-away past secret.
My first crush, when I ran into them at a class reunion after years apart, had [redacted].

○ Have you ever dyed your hair?
Only for my coming-of-age ceremony. Never since.

○ Any Mixi friends you’d privately rather keep at a distance?
It’s a bit early to have opinions like that — still very new to this.

○ Best game you’ve ever played?
Mario Kart, Momotaro Dentetsu series.

○ Do you find small children cute?
Sort of.

○ Can you touch-type?
Yes. I’m on the computer every day.
Apparently Typing of the Dead rated me at about PC Certification Level 3.

○ A law you’d make if you could?
A law that lets ordinary citizens issue parking tickets.
Illegal parking in Nagoya is out of control these days!! If I had the power, I’d be issuing tickets constantly.

○ What is Mixi to you, in a word?
A bridge connecting virtual online space and the real world?

○ Current phone model?
au, W32H — just switched recently.

○ Every answer to “what do you want to be when you grow up?” you can remember.
Train driver · Systems engineer · Pilot · Bus driver · Auto mechanic · Electronics shop owner

○ Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity?
Someone said so once, but I can’t remember who. Apparently a recent stand-up comedian (according to someone at work).

○ Shout something from the heart to close it out.
Phew.

○ Pass this on to 5 people.
Yukki
Kochel-san
Mocha-san
Kumatta-san
Anyone else who wants to do it — I don’t have enough Mixi friends yet.

○ If you were famous, what show would you want to appear on?
Telephone Shocking
NHK Red-White Song Battle

○ What would you want for your last meal?
A regular home-cooked meal. Simple is best.

○ If you were an animal, what would you want to be?
A bird. (I want to fly!)
