Done both.
The person on shift said they were exhausted, so we swapped partway through.
For me, it meant a little extra pocket money.
This part-time job runs on the balance of supply and demand like that.
Lately, I’ve been using ETC to commute to school a lot. (On the way home, at least.)
The reason is that a while back there was a campaign where installing ETC got you 5,000 yen worth of free tolls, and that 5,000 yen was refunded around June 20th.
On top of that, on the way home from school the ETC commuter discount applies (a system where toll fees are halved if you pass through an ETC gate between 5–8 PM on trips within 100 km), so the trip from Nagoya IC to Komaki IC, which would normally cost 700 yen, only costs 350 yen.
Well, I’ve fallen right into JH’s trap — but the evening commute through central Nagoya is pretty brutal, and the expressway with no traffic lights is just so much more comfortable!
For now, I think I’ll keep using it until the 5,000 yen runs out.
