The Reason My Blog Didn’t Show Up in Google Search Results

« Previous Next »

The reason is,

Google’s crawler is googlebot.com.

Why, you ask? Because this blog was once targeted by trackback bots in the past, to prevent access from overseas, I had been denying access from any hostname other than .jp.

I recently realized this, so I allowed access for googlebot.com, and while I was at it, I configured the blog to be crawled.

In a little while, it should be reflected in Google’s search results, and maybe access will gradually increase.

For the same reason, it’s the same for Yahoo. Yahoo’s is crawl.yahoo.net, you see.

I’m sure it will eventually be reflected in Yahoo! search results too.

I only just dealt with it about a week ago, so I imagine things will start moving from now on…

I’ve been writing this blog for over four years now, but for an administrator to not notice this for so long, am I disqualified?

No wonder access has been so low, I finally understood.
