I went to a fireworks festival with friends.
Come to think of it, I hadn’t been to a single fireworks show since moving to Tokyo. A first.
A friend of ours had been holding a spot since 10 a.m. and invited us to join the group.
Thanks to that, we had a lively time drinking, and it was genuinely fun.
The friend who invited me had recently bought a compact DSLR, so the theme became: fireworks photography competition.
The organizer also put in a request for photos, which added fuel to the fire.
I went all-in too — telephoto lens, remote shutter release, tripod, the full kit.
And here’s what I got.
I took many more photos — uploaded to the gallery.
Photography is a physical sport.
Once the fireworks started, people who had been sitting suddenly stood up, others pushed in from the sides — the poor crowd etiquette bothered me a little.
But you have to work the gaps and shoot fast.
The awkward positions I was holding to get the shots left my legs trembling by the end.
So — what do you think?
