Last weekend, some relatives were visiting, so I took them to see Tokyo.
One place I’d never been: the Roppongi Hills observatory.
¥1,500 just to go up. Expensive! But for me — now a confirmed photography obsessive — there was an unexpected payoff.
Tokyo is beautiful from up there!

↓ View toward Tamachi and Shinagawa — Odaiba visible in the distance!
For an extra ¥300 you can go up to the rooftop. (Mori Building really knows how to monetize this, I’ll give them that.)
Being there right around sunset produced a shot I nearly want to use as wallpaper.
The contrast between Tokyo Tower blazing in the foreground and the surrounding buildings is beautiful.
One more!
Looking toward Shibuya this time. Mt. Fuji is faintly visible in silhouette against the sunset.
The line of headlights on the elevated expressway heading toward Shibuya adds a nice accent.
I’m finally starting to get a feel for the camera — getting shots that look at least somewhat decent. (Though it might just be that the location is doing all the work.)
I want to keep improving from here.
