I bought it.
Last time I was unsatisfied with my Haneda photos and came down with a case of “I want a DSLR.”
Based on reviews at price.com, the Canon EOS Kiss X3 with twin-lens kit looked like the right pick — so I bought it.
A reward to myself, thoroughly buried in a relentless stretch of overtime.
Shooting city landscapes while cycling with a DSLR… that could be something.
For now, started close to home.
Tried shooting night scenes — something a compact camera basically can’t do.
Big Echo — always a regular stop for karaoke.

Shot from the pedestrian overpass near Kamata Station. No flash, and a dark scene — but no blur. The difference is real.
Last night was the mid-autumn moon-viewing night. So I tried the telephoto lens on the moon.
Incredible — you can actually shoot the moon with this thing. (Getting the aperture and shutter speed right was tricky though.)
Cycling just got a whole new dimension.
When I get good shots I’ll post them as they come.
