Beautiful weather today.
So I cycled out to the Tama River.
Rode from Kamata to Shimomaruko and joined the river path.
I was heading steadily north, aiming for Chofu maybe, when I hit an unexpected obstacle:
“Absurd headwind.”
Pedaling felt like climbing a hill that never ended. Brutal. My city bike has 3 speeds — not quite enough for this.
Somehow pushed through to Futako-Tamagawa before calling it. (Total knockdown. Turned around.)
Felt my brain running on empty, so I grabbed lunch.
Why is Futako-Tamagawa always so packed? Borderline chaotic too.
It was a day off and the last thing I wanted was a crowd, so I took care of a quick errand and settled on a bench by the riverbank for lunch.
Such good weather that I ended up sitting there in a daze for over an hour. That sense of luxurious emptiness — nothing beats it.
Not too hot, not too cold — perfect autumn sky. Wonderful.

I almost never use emoticons, and yet here we are.
There were loads of cyclists out. It awakened a mild desire for a new bike — resisting for now. Though the brake cable and shift cable are both over 10 years old and rusting, so I should probably replace those before too long.
Next time I want to push further north than Futako-Tamagawa.
