After this I moved on to Kobe and walked around a bit, which added to the step count — 19,936 steps, 12.1 km.
Over these two days combined: 52,000 steps, 32 km.
Apparently about 1,700 kilocalories burned.

What I loved about Kyoto: so many temples and shrines within easy walking distance.
Walking through the city was genuinely enjoyable.
The surrounding hills also made it feel less oppressively hot than Tokyo — or at least mentally so.

There’s still plenty I didn’t manage to visit.
I made a silent vow to come back someday and continue from where I left off.

My recommendation for Kyoto: walking, with occasional buses.
Driving between stops means you only get the destinations — you miss everything in between. That’d be a shame.
Highly recommend it.

A genuinely refreshing break.

Now — back to work.
