Spam Emails

« Previous Next »

I have several email addresses.
・My provider’s personal (real name) address.
・A short version of the above address (**@plala.to)
・My provider’s internet (handle name) address. (kei_kun@~plala.or.jp)
・My home server’s internet address (kei@keikun~)
・My home server’s administrator address (webmaster@keikun~)
・My school’s student ID address (*****@cc+++.****-u.ac.jp)

I’ve set it up so that no matter which of these addresses an email is sent to, it ends up on my home server.
(You can forward emails on this server, right? I’m using that feature.)
Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to manage them properly. Except for the school address, I don’t keep copies of emails, so you could say they’re essentially full forwarding addresses.

And when replying, I change the ‘From’ field depending on whether it’s for private or internet use. (Of course, each has its own signature.)

Mainly, the internet-use addresses are the cause of receiving spam emails.
As expected, having your address listed on the web isn’t really a good thing.

So, recently, I’ve been taking measures like using contact forms or turning email addresses into images to avoid listing them directly, if possible.

I hope this helps reduce them, even if only a little.

By the way, even if spam emails arrive, I sort them, so maybe I’m not that bothered.

I highly recommend this software.
