During the five-day weekend that just ended, I picked up a balance ball. The ¥1,500 price point made me think “worth a try.”
Given that my job has me sitting in a chair basically all day every day, this was probably a good purchase.
Sitting in a regular chair tends to pull you into a forward slouch. I’ve noticed some colleagues at work with noticeably poor posture.
That kind of sustained pressure leads to back pain. So when I get home, out comes the balance ball. Lying back on it stretches the whole front of the body — genuinely feels good. The kind of stretch that’s hard to do on your own.
You can use it while working on the computer or watching TV, so I’d highly recommend it.
One downside: it’s large. This is a 65cm rubber ball, so anyone short on space at home should think carefully before buying.
