These photos were taken today. (Finally catching up to the present.)
I was traveling from Nagoya to Tokyo, but the Shinkansen I’d reserved was delayed 30 minutes due to snow.
The platform was hit by bitterly cold, fierce winds.
And the seat I’d reserved was car 16, row 14 — the very last seat in the whole train. No warm waiting area anywhere near there.
Standing in the open, exposed air for 30 minutes.
But then, an N700 Series Shinkansen happened to pull in, and I got to properly examine the nose up close — something you rarely get to do.
Plenty of other people taking photos too, so it’s not exactly rare. But the N700 is apparently set to become the standard for Nozomi trains going forward.
