Ueno Park

« Previous Next »

Drawn out by the spring weather, I headed to Ueno Park.

I was thinking about going to the zoo to photograph animals — but cherry blossoms only last so long, so they took priority. Went for the blossoms instead.

Second installment, following the Sakurazaka post.

The blossoms had already passed peak and were beginning to fall.

Blue tarps spread out everywhere, cardboard boxes used as tables — people drinking, laughing, talking loudly.

Plenty of people shooting the blossoms with their phones too. Including me.

When you’re shooting landscapes like this, you really feel glad to have a telephoto lens.

A standard lens is fine for wide shots, but when you want to zoom in on a specific subject, telephoto is essential.

The background blurs easily, so you get that effect where the subject really pops.

Got a cherry blossom photo good enough to use as a wallpaper.

Would work as a stock image too.

Next up — animals?
