Beautiful autumn sky today.
So I rode my bike from Kamata to Kawasaki along National Route 15 — about 4 km.
Lovely weather, with lots of people jogging and exercising in the open areas.
Something I noticed for the first time since coming to Tokyo: even on a wide national highway, there are cyclists and pedestrians everywhere. Back in Nagoya, almost everyone travels by car, so pedestrians are rare. Tokyo really is different.
The round trip was about 8 km — and I could physically feel how out of shape I’ve gotten. Going just to Kawasaki isn’t enough. Need to push further and get some real exercise.
Then for dinner, I made a proper effort and cooked nikujaga (meat and potato stew).
Ta-da!
Used this recipe as a reference — cooking sake, mirin, the proper ingredients.
Though the seasoning was slightly thin — probably added a bit too much water.
Lesson learned for next time. But using the proper seasonings gave it a depth of flavor that turned out better than expected.
Going to keep expanding my repertoire, one day off at a time.
