The photo date is January 25, 2008 — about a month ago. (How much of a backlog am I sitting on?!)
I was riding the Shinkansen when Mt. Fuji unusually came into view — I couldn’t help pulling out the camera.
On the Shinkansen it’s usually nighttime, raining, or I’m on the ocean side — I surprisingly rarely catch a good view of Fuji.
But on that particular trip, the cabin announcement said: “We can now see Mt. Fuji, Japan’s highest peak, on the right side of the train. Please relax and enjoy the view.”
I’ve taken the Tokaido Shinkansen dozens of times, and that kind of thoughtful announcement is rare — I was pleasantly surprised.
