Hiyashi Chuka

Writing this on August 3…

Quite a gap since the last post.

And the photo itself is from July 13.

Rainy season was over, it was hot, and I had an irresistible urge to buy one of those hiyashi chuka (cold ramen) kits.

Not bad for a first attempt, right? Personally I prefer the noodles al dente.

The trickiest part was making the kinshi tamago (julienned egg crepe). I thought it would be difficult, but the IH cooktop makes temperature control easy — turned out simpler than expected.

The downside of living alone: leftover ingredients inevitably mean two consecutive hiyashi chuka meals. No choice, I suppose.
