I was watching a recording of Music Station today and Masaharu Fukuyama appeared.
He mentioned:
“The Sakurazaka in Ota Ward was the inspiration for my big hit…”
Oh! So Sakurazaka is in Ota Ward!
On that spontaneous thought, I went. By bike.
The area is roughly here:
Found an intersection called “Sakurazaka.” Could this be it?
Seems like the right place.
Sakurazaka — true to its name — is lined with cherry trees. It’s autumn now, but coming here in cherry blossom season would be beautiful.
About 100 meters in total — I was surprised by how short it was. But at the top of the slope there’s an intersection called “Sakurazaka-ue.”
Tokyo still seems to have all kinds of places waiting to be discovered.
Must explore more!
