This time I cycled out toward Yokohama.
I’d been about a year and a half ago, but the key difference this time is the upgraded bike — last time was the old high school city bicycle, this time the DAHON Speed P8.
Temperature just below 30°C, humidity not too high — perfect cycling weather.
Even Landmark Tower came out beautifully against such a clear blue sky!
Foot traffic seemed a bit higher than usual — probably because of the Yokohama Port Opening Expo Y150.
Completely opposite of the Nagano scenery two weeks ago — this was all steel and glass, all the way down.
That contrast — maybe it’s just what living in a city does to you.
Thinking about it too hard starts to feel a bit surreal.
Same as last time in Yokohama, I stopped at Chinatown to pick up three of their world-famous nikuman (¥90 each) and ate them in Yokohama Park.
A pigeon nearby was giving me a very clear “share some with me” look, but once you start feeding them there’s no end to it, so I had to tell it: “I’d love to, but — sorry.”
This year is unusually cool, so cycling season arrived earlier than expected.
Spotted many cyclists on both legs of the journey — all clearly serious, with the gear and the bearing to match.
Aiming to use this to get some proper exercise, I want to keep exploring more places.
Now that long rides are more familiar, I want to try “rinko” (folding and taking the bike on the train) — the real joy of having a folding bike.
