The clerk said: “Isn’t that the entire Beatles section? A complete sweep.” Couldn’t help but feel a little proud.

Surprising how few copies were left to rent… or maybe it’s just unusual to take the whole lot at once.

Reading around online, the domestic Japanese boxed set is priced over ¥70,000, while imports can be found for around ¥40,000 — and there are plenty of fans frustrated with the label’s pricing strategy.

I get it — hardcore fans will buy regardless of price, but at that price point you’re not going to win any new converts.

The Beatles’ CDs have historically been priced high, and frustration about that has been simmering among fans for a long time.
