Back in Nagoya to visit family.
While here, I used the opportunity to photograph the illuminations around Nagoya Station. (Completely camera-obsessed now.)
First shot: in front of the station with Midland Square and HAL Nagoya in the background.
Came out nicely! If you look closely, the wall of Midland Square is lit up as a snowman!
And then the illuminations themselves — the one Nagoya Station is known for:
Apparently this year’s theme is “Dream Promenade.”
The scenes cycle through the four seasons.
So I set up the tripod and shot each of the seasonal scenes.
Positioned a little further back, with a telephoto lens.
Even with the tripod, there was still motion blur… The culprit: the subway running underground! Tough to beat.
Like painting on an enormous canvas. You don’t really see illuminations like this in Tokyo — Tokyo decorates the whole city, rather than concentrating it in one display.
